Whether your umbrella sits poolside, on an open terrace or in a breezier part of the backyard, the 25kg Weight Plate provides a simple way to create a more substantial foundation while maintaining the refined Retro Umbrella Co. aesthetic.
This weight plate is only compatible with Retro Umbrella Co. umbrella bases purchased from March 2026 onwards.
If your base was purchased before March 2026, this weight plate will not fit correctly. If you are unsure which base you have, please contact us before ordering.
Additional weight improves stability, but no base or weight makes an umbrella windproof.
Always close your umbrella when it is unattended, not in use, or in windy conditions.
Never leave an umbrella open in strong winds or adverse weather.
Use on a flat, level and stable surface.
Before opening the umbrella, check the pole is fully seated and the upright is tightened, and recheck it regularly.
For particularly exposed locations, and for commercial or hospitality use, additional securing methods may still be required.
This is a heavy item (25kg). Take care when lifting and moving it, use a safe lifting technique, and get a second person to help if needed.
Remove the umbrella before fitting or removing the plate, and take care of fingers and feet when lowering the plate onto the base.
Do not let children climb on, swing from or play with the umbrella or base.

How the wind test was done. Our umbrella was tested in a wind tunnel to 60 km/h, open, on our 24.5kg base, on a flat, level surface in controlled conditions. Outdoor wind is gustier and less predictable, and slopes, soft or uneven ground, rooftops, coastal and other exposed sites all change how an umbrella behaves. Treat the test as a guide, not a guarantee of how it will perform where you use it.
