How the wind test was done. Our umbrella was tested in a wind tunnel to 60 km/h, open, on our 24.5kg base, on a flat, level surface in controlled conditions. Outdoor wind is gustier and less predictable, and slopes, soft or uneven ground, rooftops, coastal and other exposed sites all change how an umbrella behaves. Treat the test as a guide, not a guarantee of how it will perform where you use it.
Damage caused by wind, storms, hail or other weather, accidents, misuse, improper installation, or not following these notes and our set-up and care instructions is not covered by our warranty. Yes. A 3m canopy covers a six-seat table through the middle of the day. Late afternoon the shade shifts a metre or two, so set the base slightly towards the sun.

Yes. Bases are sold separately (only with the purchase of a Retro umbrella), and every umbrella needs a properly weighted one. Our 24.5kg octagonal base is powder-coated steel, sized for the 48mm pole and shaped to match the 8-panel canopy. For open or exposed spots, add the extra weight plate on top.
